Luke Mitchell reporting

The Washington had a good win on Sunday against a Battersea Ironsides team at Raynes Park.

Having decided to bat after winning the toss the opposition promptly lost 3 wickets in the first 2 overs to Mariner and Kloss. The Washington bowling and fielding was accurate throughout the innings and it’s a credit to the opposition that they batted out their 35 overs scoring 128/7.

The Washington lost 3 wickets in the chase and at one stage it looked like a classic slide might develop, but Shawn played with his usual blend of finesse and brutality for 64*, ably assisted in the task by Andrew Anderson who looked very self-assured and determined for a club best score of 34* in a partnership of 94*.
