Sunday 4th July 2010 vs Northfields C.C.

Epic Game Ends in Narrow Defeat

Northfields C.C. 212 for 6 (40 overs)
Washington C.C. 204 for 8 (40 overs)

This was an epic game of cricket in which the match turned one way then the other in the last 10 overs, and victory for Northfields was not certain until really the final 2 balls.

Washington bowled first and there were solid performances from Luke Mitchell, Toby Mariner and Stephen Coyle, and 2 wickets for Naveed Mir.

When Wash batted, Mike Turner (82) played a truly epic innings, carrying his bat till the last couple of overs. He seemed to be taking the Wash to victory but agonisingly they came up just 9 runs short as the tail-enders couldn't quite do it.

The game will also be remembered for Naveed Mir being hit on the eyebrow and having to go to hospital for stiches - the second Washington player to suffer this at Northfields this season! (the other being Arun Prasad).

Man of the match: Mike Turner
