50 for Matthews

Barnes C.C. 260 for 5 (40 overs)
Washington C.C. 216 all out (40 overs)

Shawn Hill reporting.

Managed to watch a little bit of saturday's match against Barnes Common cricket club and it appears that we might have found another "regular" fixture for the seasons to come. The setting was idyllic and appeared to fit in with the Washington's ethos of good quality friendly cricket. Also, no one managed to launch a ball onto the railway tracks so that is something to aim for next time.

The Wash bowled first and saw the opposition put on a score of close to 260 runs! A formidable target to say the least. The outfield was fast though and some boundaries not particularly long. Unfortunately though the fielding session also saw Ahir having to be taken to hospital with a dislocated finger. Ouch! the Wash's innings went well though, in the end only falling about 40 runs short with one batsman less. Pendry getting bowled on the last ball of the innings. Well played guys, I felt it was a good effort.
