A stand of 113 between Chris Davis and Sandeep Kuckreja was the backbone of Washington's innings enabling them to post a score of 182 in good time, leaving nearly 50 overs in which to bowl the opposition out. Three wickets each for Shawn Hill and Russell Pendry took the Wash to victory with 4 of the final 20 overs to go. In fact at the start of the last 20 seven wickets were still to fall but intelligent bowling changes by skipper Tony Harris and Hill's and Pendry's performances ensured the victory. Mayfield effectively finally surrendered when captain Colin Paul chipped a catch to Sandeep at short mid-wicket and was 9th out for an excellent individual score of 61. Washington were delighted at their victory in this declaration game and several of the team were forced to admit that this form of the game is not so bad after all.
