Arkley C.C. 141 for 7
Washington C.C. 142 for 5

Washington got back to winning ways on Sunday with a 5 wicket victory against Arkley.

Welcoming Richard Minion back, he and James Wood bowled great spells. Minion with 2 for 34 bowled within himself and Wood varied his pace well to return with figures of 3 for 29.
Wash also welcomed Kit Cooper back after injury and he bamboozled the batsmen with his wily bowling deservedly getting a wicket.
Arkley never really seemed to get going so when they had posted 141 for 7 at tea, the Wash boys were feeling pretty confident.

Their confidence grew as Pete Demetri, opening the batting with Grant McDonald, was dropped at second slip before he had scored. This was his only lapse as he dominated proceeding with another brilliant batting display scoring 87. David Gluckman once more batted very well under some good swing bowling and kept things ticking over, ending unbeaten on 16.

Shot of the day has to go to John Roche. Having to go in with 3 overs left and 6 runs needed, he expertly defended the first ball, before firing the next one over mid-wickets head for a glorious 6 to win the match. Roche had to comment on the shot afterwards saying in his Irish tones "It was still rising as it was going over the boundary".

Skipper David Walker simple put it as a "Great shot from the Irishman." He further added "We always seemed in control of the match and it was great to have Minion back in partnership with Wood, they really seem to fire off each other." As for Demetri "I can think of no words that I haven't used to describe his batting at the moment. He really seems to be enjoying himself and long may it continue"
