Sunday 13th May 2001 vs Four Elms C.C.

Wash draw blank

Washington C.C. 179 for 8
Four Elms C.C. 133 for 7

After a very promising start Washington had to settle for a draw in their first real game of the season.

After loosing the toss and being put into bat Washington blasted to 103 without loss with newcomer Dale Bracegirdle making his maiden 50 before being caught behind. Last seasons top batsman Pete Demetri carried on where he left off with another authoritative 44. Despite an aggressive 18 from Alan Moffat and a well crafter 19 not out from Gary Evans, Washington felt that they didn't deliver the score that the opening partnership deserved. Finishing on 178 for 8 in 37 overs.

Four Elms started slowly, making the Wash score seem all the more respectable. Terry Tidey was bowling very well and deservedly got the first 2 wickets of the season. Everyone bowled well and kept the run rate below the require level. GAry added to his batting with 2 wickets and a great run out from a sitting position.

Pete Demetri took 2 good catches, the second one very timley to stop Crowhurst (35) who was begining to hit some big bounderies.

After this Four Elms shut up shop and despite loosing a late wicket didn't really look like loosing the game and finished on 133 for 7 from 37 overs.
