Sunday 24th July 2016 vs London Tigers C.C.

Washington schooled by schoolboys

London Tigers C.C. 213
Washington C.C. 63

We were soundly beaten by a young side after we dominated in the early part with 6-63 in the first 20 overs fielding first. After drinks, debutant Mike Egan had his finger broken trying to field a ball which was travelling at supersonic speed, and it went downhill from there. The score on the board was 213 after 40, although we have detected irregularities in the scorecard which show the score was probably more in the 170s. That said, the Washington went out to face a team which bowled accurately and fast in the early stages, and turned the ball sideways after that, with committed young fielders. A few rash shots and a run out did for much of our top order and the HMS Washington slipped quietly beneath the waves. It's not all doom and gloom however... Richard Creed bowled superbly again, Max took 4 wickets in his new role as a spinner, and Khan took not one but two utterly spectacular catches, plus Ian Moore got his first wicket for the club.
